Remainder of volume, pages 40-137, consists of abstract book of W.M. Muckenfuss, attorney and counsellor at law, of Charleston, S.C.; entries record chiefly land conveyances, inheritance matters, and settlement of estates; majority of cases document real estate transactions in Charleston indexed by street, but volume also records cases in Summerville, and in the parishes of St. James Goose Creek and Christ Church. Abstracts name numerous women as owners of property or executrixes of estates; volume also includes tipped-in papers and copies of several plats and abstracts of seventeenth and eighteenth century land papers regarding royal grants, distribution of estates, and division of property in various Charleston neighborhoods, including history of tract that became Wraggborough.
